"HELP ME TO DO IT MYSELF!"
What is Montessori?
In Montessori education, the focus is on the individual child and young person. The environments in which they spend their everyday lives are therefore tailored to their respective physical and psychological needs.
The following criteria are typical:
ACTIVELY LIVING MINDFULNESS
In our multicultural, integrative kindergarten, we treat each other with mutual respect. We also show our appreciation for each other by saying thank you or asking for something.
TRAINING SELF-RESPONSIBILITY
Support and encourage each child to act independently and on their own responsibility. Through praise and encouragement, the child gains the confidence to explore its surroundings with an open and alert mind and to constantly acquire new knowledge.
INDEPENDENCE
Active encouragement through self-activity is the goal of all Montessori’s educational efforts. It demands space and time for the child to develop freely, because human dignity and true freedom can only come from a sense of independence.
THE PARENTS ARE ACTIVELY INVOLVED
Montessori institutions usually attach great importance to the fact that parents are involved beyond the normal level and are also personally involved. Parents are happy to teach their children special skills in a workshop, for example. This creates an important link to the “outside world” and the children experience an important piece of reality. Parents do not run the risk of simply handing over their children, but become co-creators of their children’s institution.
THE MONTESSORI MATERIAL
The most important and distinctive aspect of Montessori education, however, is the material. Most of the material actually goes back to Maria Montessori herself. Every Montessori material fulfills various criteria that distinguish it from a “normal” toy. This includes “the isolation of properties”.
Montessori has many facets. Perhaps you are curious to find out more about this historical and at the same time highly topical method. Take a look at our website.

WHAT ARE MONTESSORI TOYS?
Many classic educational toys for toddlers, from the sorting box with geometric shapes to the rainbow tower and the threading game, are actually modified Montessori materials, even if they are not labeled as such.
This only serves to illustrate how strongly Maria Montessori shaped our view of children and their learning and can therefore be viewed in a thoroughly positive light.
It would be much more important for parents with a sympathy for this particular type of education to look into the educational background and thus at some point have a certain intuition as to which toys promote their child’s mental and social development and which do not.
